Introduced as a new distance to Run Garioch in 2011, the Mackie's 5k is an ideal first event for those just starting out on their running journey as well as those who want to push themselves.
This year will be the second year of sponsorship by Mackie's of Scotland.
All runners over the age of 12 (S1) are welcome to take part in the Mackie's 5k.
Race packs, including bibs, safety pins and timing chips will be posted to all runners in the weeks before the event.
Entries are non-refundable and non-transferrable. NO ENTRIES ON THE DAY.

Runners must be at least 12 years of age and in S1 on race day to take part in the Mackie's 5k.

There will be ascending kilometre marks on the course.
To reduce the amount of plastic of paper waste produced by race day, runners are requested to bring their own water/hydration fluids where possible. Bottle/camelbak refill stations will be available at the race start and finish. There will be no water stations on the Mackie's 5k course.
The safety of all our runners, volunteers and spectators is Run Garioch’s top priority, and being able to hear marshalling instructions, emergency vehicles and traffic noise is a huge part of staying safe on the course. As such, we follow UK Athletics policy prohibiting the use of ‘in-ear’ headphones in events without fully closed roads; in addition, we also prohibit the use of ‘over-ear’ headphones (‘cans’) that similarly prohibit runners from hearing the sounds around them. In accordance with UK Athletics policy, we do permit the use of headphones using bone-conduction technology (‘AfterShokz’, ‘Shokz’ and similar products) that allow runners to listen to their personal music while still being aware of their surroundings.
After the start on Burghmuir Drive runners carry on toward Blackhall Road and the Morrison’s roundabout. There, they take a right and head under the overpass. Not long after, runners cross to the opposite side of the road and veer left, taking them all the way round Corsmanhill Drive.
At the roundabout at the top of Corsmanhill Drive at the junction with Blackhall Road, runners take a left up the ‘spur’ until the cone/marshal point. Runners then head back down Blackhall Road and take a left at the roundabout at the junction with John Sorrie Drive. Runners follow this road until turning left at Cairn Wynd.
At the end of Cairn Wynd runners rejoin John Sorrie Drive and head left back down to the roundabout at the junction with Blackhall Road (where they turn left). They then head back under the underpass and return as they came to the GSC.
The total elevation gained over the course of the race is approximately 68 m.
